Individual Protection Equipment IPE


IPE is composed of : Harness, Connexion system and Anchoring device.

The Harness  must fit the user’s body structure granting him easiness at his work station. It’s dorsal and sternum system holds with the work station and anchoring points (EN 361).
Connexion System is constituted of:







Anchoring Device of fall arrest system must be reachable, secure and positioned above the work station.
Always check up the anchorage features (EN 795).

Always place an intermediate anchorage if working in a confined space, insuring the user’s safety by placing a second connexion system which may be composed of: rings, raw plug, anchoring rail for windows and openings, anchoring hook for roof, straps and vertical or horizontal lifelines.


In case of fall, it is essential that a help is carried to the user in the minutes which follow.

 


Maintenance and check up of IPE:

Before every use, the agent has to check visually the equipment, Every 12 months, a competent person examines the general state, the solidity of the sewings... This check is recorded in the register of safety, finally, after a fall, SPUR must have returned to the supplier to be checked and reconditioned.

Every SPUR used must be certified IT.

Training

Every IPE user must take the adequate and specific training: to get knowledge of the different IPE components and their respective functions and to perfectly master its use.

This training has to be repeated until getting the requested mastery of IPE use.

The employer must mention: the anchoring point, mooring device and the features of Individual Protection Equipments use.
